Description
This drawing has been an idea in my head for a very long time. The opportunity and motivating factor to actually put this on paper came with *mjranum-stock's contest. The stipulation was to use one of his stock photos of lovely models. I had a really hard time finding the one picture to use, because with a viewing of each new photo, a whole flood of other ideas popped into my head. The goal (I told myself) was to stick to the idea I already had, and to look only at photos that would work with my theme. And luckily, I found exactly what I was looking for. I'm proud of this piece because for once, I was able to think of something "odd" and make it look nice enough to be hung up on a wall.
The inspiration for this piece came from a painting called The Hatchling by one of my favorite fantasy artists, Dorian Cleavenger. The idea behind this ought to be obvious - a cross between a human woman and some sort of mythical creature. A dragon perhaps or something from the dinosaur ages.
There is still some post-work I need to do on this drawing. There are some areas that need cleaning up, and I need to re-scan it. The same old problems. When I can get it to look much better, I'll update this.
Thanks to: for his wonderful stock image.
Model: Cordula. The original photo I worked from can be seen here: [link]
Tools: Prismacolor colored pencils/Graphite
Size: 18 x 24 in.
Time to complete: Two and a half weeks (on and off).

First of all I'm so sorry I'm so late with my comment!
This wonderful sis, very creative! The texture on the stonewall looks real good and so does her skintones, especially the highlighting on her legs!
Good luck to the contest then, eh?
