Artist's Comments

Another Billie Piper drawing, mainly for my Sis =WraithTen

Instead of the usual smooth color pencil look in my other drawings, I went for a sketchy, rough and thick look to this. I'd consider this a speed drawing since it was done in just over a day. :faint:

I can't wait for Rose to come back to the Dr Who show! :excited:

Color pencils on blue scrapbooking card stock. :D

Very nice. I love the hair, it looks to have tons of colors in it which gives it such a nice effect. I will have to look up who that is 'cause I have never heard of her =D

Thank you Rissa! I have a few other drawings of her in my gallery. Two as herself and two of her from the tv show Dr Who. She played the companion to the ninth and tenth Doctors in seasons 1 and 2. She's a British pop star/actress. :)

I like where this is going. Your technique reminds me of the old impressionist paintings, (Renoir, Monet, etc.). I'd like to see more of this. Only one thought, if I may be so bold, I would texture a little more smoothly on the skintones. I think you were going for some shadow effects especially on the chest but it kinda reads like "fur". Keep it up though! This technique has the beginnings of something great! :)

Now I'm speechless! Thank you for such a lovely compliment. I must admit this is the first time I've ever tried "sketchy" and it cost me many brow furrowing, cringes and exclamations of "yuck". I'm so not used to it, and I had to resist trying to blend everything until it was super smooth. But once it was done, it didn't look all that bad.

Of course you may be so bold! I agree with you, in that the chest area looks terrible, and I know it. I tried to smooth it out, but I gave up after many attempts at erasing, re-coloring, re-erasing.

 @ it looks like "fur" !!! Gosh, I so hope not, the poor girl. I guess I ruined her. If I ever try another one of these sketchy color pencil drawings, I will pay more attention to such things. Thank you so much for the comment - I really do appreciate it!

I like this style. It looks like you had a lot of fun with your pencils. I love the colours, especially the hair and skin. Amazing

Billie Piper, I think I have heard of her :-)

You probably have if you have seen the TV series Dr Who. The newer seasons (1 & 2) had her playing Rose Tyler. I also have a few other drawings of her in my gallery. ;)

Dr. who? .... ok, that is a joke that does not work :D
Wasn't she a singer from Britain? I know, your gallery is hugh and has such great works!

Thank you, Aya! I did have fun, mainly because I didn't spend many painful hours hunched over my table trying to get the super smooth layering that I normally do. I just grabbed a handful of pencils and basically scribbled quickly over the paper. I'm quite surprised at the effect myself. I probably should try more of these. :D

You're welcome. Please don't come down on yourself too hard. We artists tend to get frustrated when exploring new ground. But at least you're doing it. The only way to work out the kinks is to keep going with it. Please do. I think you're on your way!
